Pray Oregon is excited to announce the launch of Adopt A Legislator in Oregon. We are in the early stages of developing this large undertaking to coordinate prayer connectors across the state with our State Senators and State Representatives.
Find your legislators. Go to www.oregonlegislature.gov/FindYourLegislator/leg-districts.html and type in your home address to get the name and contact information of your State Senator and State Representative.
Select either a State Senator or State Representative from the district in which you reside. Get to know about your Legislator. Learn their background and occupation, family member’s names, kid’s ages, where they live, and other public information. Set your heart to pray for and encourage your legislator. We will not lobby or evangelize. This is our true focus. (1 Tim. 2:1-2). After you prayerfully select the legislator you wish to adopt, email the Pray Oregon Connector Coordinator at aal@prayoregon.org with your name, and your adopted legislator’s name to receive prayer updates. If you are part of an organization or have formed a Prayer Team, please specify the name of your group.
Research your legislator. To establish a real prayer connection with your legislator, start by learning more about them through their website and social media pages.
E-Subscribe to your legislator’s online newsletters. Go to the state legislature website www.leg.state.or.us, and click on “eSubscribe” button on the bottom left of the screen to sign up for your legislator’s announcements. You will receive important information such as announcements for legislator coffee meetings and events in your local community. Most importantly, begin praying for your person.
