Grace Powers, Glide OR This is lining up to be a pivotal summer. As I’ve been considering my son’s new summer position with the National Park Service as a camp host on the Tillamook coast, I thought I’d shout out to all Pray Oregon people to remember to pray over this highly busy season for tourists and locals alike. As visitors from other states and countries choose Oregon as their destination spot for summer vacation, we are praying for safety on the roads, divine encounters with out of town guests, as well as traveling mercies, for all who pass through this land. Through the summer, with the steady stream of guests, we also want to remember to pray for the upcoming Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 21st.
This is somewhat historical as it will be a rare coast-to-coast eclipse. What is interesting about this eclipse is that it is an almost identical eclipse to the one which will take place again in April 8th, 2024. Researchers have found that when you take the shadows of both eclipses, they create a crossing point which happens to fall right around the location of the New Madrid area.
What does it all mean? Who knows, but we do know that there will be many foreigners in our land, and we know God wants us to love the foreigner. “The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.” Lev. 19:34
